News in THE HINDU, dated 20-01-2007, is as follows:

The place has got everything that would make the driver of a speeding car stop, get down and have a look, and at times even impel him or her to settle down on the lush green meadows for a few minutes. If the place is to be personified then at one go it can be said, "She- is a head turner". And to deck it up further Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority has fixed a huge LED (Light emitting diode) screen to take your breath away.

Just laze on the meadows with your family and watch a movie as the gentle breeze from the bay cools your fatigued mind and body.

The extension of the Tenneti Park that is coming up at the site where the original park once existed is the new feature that the city can boast of on the TOURISM front.

Set about 200-feet above the sea, it overlooks the blue expanse of the Bay of Bengal. From the beach below the park resembles the ramparts of an ancient fort. Standing on the edge one can witness the play of Nature as the Bay changes its hues as the day goes by.

While the morning sun turns the tides into crimson with tinge of molten gold, in the day it's azure blue and on a full moon night the bay turns into a vast stretch of rippled sliver sheet.

Apart from its scenic surroundings the extension is loaded with a huge LED screen, measuring 22 feet by 16 feet. Perceived by VUDA, it has been given to Hyderabad based MIC Electronics on BOT (Build Operate Transfer) basis to develop the concept at an estimated project cost of Rs.3 crores.

Thimma Reddy, officer on special duty, VUDA, informed that the two-acre land has been given to MIC Electronics for a lease period of 20 years on ground rent basis for Rs.4 lakhs a year with a provision of 33 per cent enhancement every three years.

Apart from setting up the huge LED screen the park would have other features like an amphitheatre, a hygienic food court, family entertainment pocket and children gaming area.

K.A. Prasad, director MIC, informed that apart from showing movies the screen would be used for special occasion like cricket world cup, award functions and pageant shows. "Movies and tele serials would be regular features but how about watching an exciting world cup match by the bay," he said.

MIC also has ideas of letting out the park for product launches and corporate outings.

"Where will one get such an environment and a huge screen at the same time.

We are also open to corporate and commercial advertisements. Right now we are not charging any fee for entry into the park but we have plans to introduce some payment structure during special events," said Mr. Prasad.
